How to write a leaflet

Real leaflets have lots of colour, pictures, fancy fonts and graphics and are usually created on a sophisticated piece of software designed specifically for this purpose. The leaflet you will produce in the exam (if it comes up) will be simple, will be in black and white and will be done on Word.

There are two types of leaflets:

·        Persuasive – these are designed to persuade you to pay for either a product or a service, e.g. a pizza or a dry cleaning service

·        Informative – these are designed to give you information about something important like what to do if you discover a fire or how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

All leaflets should contain the following:

·        A main heading
·        Subheadings
·        Bullet points
·        Different font sizes
·        Some text in bold
·        Spaces where pictures would go and explanations of what the pictures would be of
·        An address and contact details of a relevant organisation

You must include all of these to show that you understand how a leaflet is different from, say, an article.
